Essay Contest


Description of the 2012 Essay Contest:

To further the study of Israel in an academic perspective, the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies is sponsoring a contest for the best University of Maryland student paper on modern Israel, written during 2012. Students are invited to submit academic essays of a variety of kinds—review essays, research papers, textual studies—with a focus on Israeli politics, society, or culture.

Essay Contest Prize:

  • One roundtrip, economy-class, airfare ticket to Israel.
  • Airfare must be redeemed by December 31, 2013.
  • Airfare cost must NOT exceed $1,500 USD, including all applicable surcharges and taxes.
  • Essays will be added to the Gildenhorn Institute’s website (if author authorizes)
